Maritza Cano Roman-Pavajeau is married to Jaime, a Cardiothoracic and General Surgeon for 23 years; they were blessed with five pregnancies and 4 children (3 boys and 1 girl).
Maritza has a vast work history including work in the hotel industry in her country of origin (Colombia) and in Switzerland. She was Interim Subdirector of Human Resources at the University of La Sabana and was then named Director of the Academic University Press. During that time she also worked as a professor.
When she came to the United States she was hired as Principal at Christ the King Catholic School. Three years later, she accepted a position as Associate Director in the Office of Family Life Ministry where she worked for nearly 18 years.
Once in the United States she obtained several certifications in Marriage and Family Studies. She is a certified relationship coach, Positive Parenting Educator, Marriage Mentor, Family Advocate, Educator of the Truth about Drugs, Mindfulness, among many other certifications. She created and implemented the Marriage Enrichment and Parenting, area of Family Life Ministry for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Currently she is pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psicology.
Maritza has a special love for writing and she has some articles and publications among which there are some reflections on family spirituality published by 23rd Publications. She also loves writing poetry and planting fruit trees. She loves music especially baroque music and plays the guitar, the electronic organ, and singing. She also enjoys cooking and jogging.
Maritza did her undergraduate studies the University of La Sabana in Colombia where she got a degree Business Administration with a specialization on Administration of Service Institutions for Social and Family Wellness. She also studied at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland where she got a degree in Management & Marketing Services. Maritza has doctorate in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Navarra in Spain, where she also obtained a degree in Family Interventions (“Orientación Familiar”).
Maritza serves on numerous boards of foundations and organizations related to family and character formation. She is a speaker locally as well as internationally. Her love and conviction for the wellbeing and health of marriage and family relationships is a motto for her life. She is working now to develop a strong business model that will benefit families and marriages.
